Organized Beautifully

My client was using plastic containers and old peanut butter jars on her dresser. Not exactly inspiring. That’s taking repurposing too far!
My client and I had reorganized her office and closet. We were now going through her lovely bedroom. She was using old plastic produce containers and an empty peanut butter jar for loose change, her watch, and the current nail polish. Why would a woman who lives in a multi-million dollar condo be so “cheap” with herself? I’m all for recycling and repurposing, but this goes against my idea or organizing beautifully. I suggested she use prettier receptacles and she responded, “But, you’re the one who told me to stop buying stuff!” Ha! She was right — I did say that!
Before: old plastic tubs and peanut butter jars. A safety pin as key holder. Don’t skimp on yourself. Be abundant with flowers, crystal and other lovely pieces that will make you smile. Pretty and practical — you deserve it.
My approach, however, was to go shopping in her own home. First, we looked in her china cabinet and extracted some small crystal bowls. Next, we looked in the bar and found a few elegant small plates. We replaced the crumbling plastic items with beautiful crystal. Her bedroom looks and feels so much better and now has a great vibe.
Go “shopping” in your home and bring simple transformation to those areas that are looking shabby. Find those hidden treasures and bring them into everyday use. Because, you deserve it!
